The best and only way I know is for you to become an apprentice.

Let’s face it. I love to talk about things that are real, not some imaginations in my head. Real life is, well, real. You own no camera; you have no experience as a photographer and you want to make images; you want to be a professional one day. There is no money to purchase a camera. What do you think must be done?

You approach a photographer you wish to learn from. Most times, you only wish to approach just anybody who has a camera. Do that. And learn from them.

If we go a hundred years back, we will realize this truth. 90% of things were studied by being apprentices. Today, apprenticeship is looked discouraged. It’s seen as a thing of the past. But hey, here’s a truth you’ve not known. Apprenticeship is the most practical thing I have ever seen. There’s nothing more practical. Everything is hands on.

Some of the greatest artists, you know, especially painters, were all apprentices. They learned at the feet of a master. This is way simpler than learning on YouTube. This time, you have a person guiding you, a person taking you through the process of discipline.

Don’t you long to learn from another and make YouTube University more like a backup plan?

What will my advice to the beginner be?

Learn at the feet of a master you cherish. Be an apprentice. This will do you more good.

Have you ever been an apprentice? How was it like? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
